Picture Quality
The QG221Q bii monitor is based on an IPS panel with 1920 x 1080@75 Hz resolution, a 250 cd/m² brightness, 16:9 aspect ratio and 8 bits (6 bits + FRC).
The Acer QG221Q bii has a poor contrast ratio, as most IPS displays do. This results in blacks looking more like gray, especially in a dark room environment.
The QG221Q has excellent SDR peak brightness. When used in a bright room, it is bright enough to eliminate glare.
Performance
The Acer QG221Q bii uses advanced 8 bits (6 bits + FRC) colour IPS display technology that gives you 178/178 degrees of extra-wide viewing angles. While the QG221Q’s smooth rendering ability during gaming will deny any possibility of ghosting effects.
For an IPS panel, the QG221Q bii has good vertical and horizontal viewing angles. The first significant change, when viewed from the side, is the changing of colours, followed by a decrease in brightness.
A 72% NTSC wide colour gamut achieves smooth transitions, finer shades and uniform appearance which enables you to see even the darkest spots with the Black Boost technology during gaming.
This monitor has remarkable gray and black uniformity. This monitor comes out of the box with outstanding colour accuracy. This suits the gamma very well and the majority of scenes are seen at the appropriate brightness.
The QG221Q bii has an impressive response time. This gives you a clear view, with minimal blur behind fast-moving objects. This display also has a flicker-free backlight and there is an optional insertion feature for the Black Frame to help further eliminate motion blur.
Design & Connectivity
The Acer QG221Q bii sports a relatively simple design, with three-sided thin bezels and a thicker bottom bezel. The QG221Q bii thin borders are ideal for multi-monitor setups.
The tripod configuration of the stand supports the display well.
The tripod stand configuration has a wider footprint but the legs are short, so you have more space to work with when placed on your desk.
The Acer QG221Q bii comes with decent ergonomics. It has VESA mount support with a standard VESA interface size of 100 x 100.
The height can’t be adjusted, as well as switching between landscape and portrait mode in any direction.
This monitor can only forward tilt at 5° and backward tilt at 25°.
The Acer QG221Q bii overall build quality is decent. Although it’s made entirely of plastic, it feels solid and doesn’t swivel at the base.
