ASUS PG279QR and PG279QE 165Hz WQHD IPS G-SYNC models Specifications.

The ASUS PG279Q was one of the earliest examples of an IPS monitor with high refresh rate of 27 Since then a number of high refresh rate panels of 27 “WQHD (2560 x 1440) have been released, used in a variety of products including the slightly refreshed PG279QZ. The ASUS PG279QR and PG279QE offer further evolution of the ROG SWIFT product line with 27 “high refresh rate. The ‘QR’ offers the usual modern ROG SWIFT additions including Aura Sync RGB LED lighting and a tripod stand design with ‘light signature’ projector. The ‘QE’ is somewhat pared back in terms of design, lacking the lighting features and offering a simple stand design. The bottom bezel with regular matte plastic and a central ‘ASUS‘ logo is a bit slimmer, too. Rather than multiple textures of plastic, and a ROG motif. On both models the side bezels are dual stage with a slim panel border that blends in when the screen is turned off. Plus a slim outer piece of hard plastic. The OSD (On Screen Display) is operated with pushbuttons and a rear joystick

The monitors use IPS-type (In Plane Switching or similar) panels with 165Hz refresh rate support and Nvidia G-SYNC 27 “2560 x 1440 (WQHD). Key specifications include a static contrast ratio of 1000:1, horizontal / vertical viewing angles of 178 ° /178 °, and 8-bit color support.. A light matte anti-glare screen surface is employed, keeping the image free from obvious graininess and helping preserve clarity and vibrancy better than some matte surfaces. A flicker-free WLED backlight is employed with a standard colour gamut (100% sRGB) and 350 cd/m² typical specified maximum luminance. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to enhance viewing comfort, particularly useful in the evening where blue light exposure should be minimised. The rear of the monitors are dominated by matte black plastic. The ‘QR’ model includes some artistic etchings for the upper-right section and includes the Aura Sync RGB LED lighting feature in this region (ROG motif) which can be customised via the OSD or by using software. The stand is a silver colored matte plastic satin-effect on the ‘QR’ and a matte black with a dark red motif on the ‘QE’ more toned down. The ports are down-firing, and the ‘QR’ includes a removable port cover. The ports include: DC power input, 3.5 mm headphone jack, DP 1.2, HDMI 1.4, and 2 USB 3.0 ports.QR rear view
