ASUS VP249QGR with Full HD 144Hz IPS panel Specification
Recently, producers have started releasing a range of models with ~24′′ Full HD 144Hz IPS panels. This combination of price and performance is exactly what certain users are looking for. One such model is the ASUS VP249QGR, which is known for the simple and elegant design members of the company’s VP series. The bezels at the top and at the side are very slim, with a dual stage design. This combines a very slender panel border with a slim outer component made from hard plastic. The bottom bezel is thicker plastic with a brushed texture, dark grey matte. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled on the underside of the bottom bezel by pressing buttons to the right.. There are also some dark red button labels on the bottom bezel.
A 23.8′′ IPS-type (In-Plane Switching or similar) panel is used, with resolution of 1920 x 1080 (Full HD). In particular, the monitor is based on the LC238LF1F (IGZO IPS) Panda. This features an Adaptive-Sync refresh rate of 144Hz, including AMD FreeSync, with a refresh rate range of 48-144Hz (plus LFC support). Other specifications of note include a 1000:1 specified static contrast ratio and 178°/178° horizontal/vertical viewing angles. A medium matte anti-glare screen surface with relatively smooth finish is used, offering good glare handling and keeping the image free from strong graininess. The monitor supports 8-bit color (6-bit + FRC dithering) and features a standard color gamut (~sRGB) WLED backlight with a typical 250 cd / m2 maximum luminance. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings function to help relax viewing. A response time of 4ms is defined grey to blue. Additionally, the included ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur) strobe backlight setting defines a response time of 1ms MPRT. The included stand, with 100 x 100 mm VESA holes included for alternative mounting, offers tilt as the only ergonomic flexibility. AC power input (internal power converter), DP 1.2a, HDMI 1.4, VGA and a 3.5 mm headphone jack are included in the ports face down. Includes 2 x 2W speakers for the basic audio.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. Information on price and availability when we have it. Given the monitor series, we’d expect competitive and relatively ‘budget’ pricing.
