I bought this smartwatch on Jumia Nigeria for almost 5000 Naira and you can also get this smartwatch on Gearbest and Amazon. Between $25 to $42 (I’ll leave links where to get this smartwatch in the description below.)

So let’s get right into the full review.

Unboxing

Unboxing the Oukitel W2 you get

  • Fitness Tracker Watch
  • Charging Cable
  • User Manual

Where To Buy:

Design.

With a rectangular shape, the W2 looks a lot like the Apple Watch Series 3 when viewed from the top and from a distance. You would think that it’s an Apple watch.

Oukitel copied the physical design of the iWatch 3 and also parts of its software refer to the design of Apple’s OS, particularly the sports statistics.

When the wrist is raised the screen is activated, and you can see the time and switch between three different watch faces.

The front of the W2 is plain with no visible feature, on the right side you have a physical button to turn on the watch and switch between menus. The front lower part of the W2 is also used to switch between menus and features.

At the back, you have the OUKITEL brand logo and below the logo, you have a sensor. Below the sensor is the magnetic charger dock where the charging cable is attached to charge the fitness tracker.

The strap on the W2 is not quickly releasable and made from a durable plastic that’s elastic. The W2 comes in three colours blue, pink, & black.

  • Band material: TPU
  • Case material: ABS, PC
  • The shape of the dial: Rectangle
  • Dial size: 4.30 x 3.70 x 1.30

Display

The Oukitel W2 comes with a 1.3-inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 240 x 240 pixels, a 2.5D curved screen, and a 261 PPI density.

The navigation mode for Oukitel W2 is touch screen but not all part of this smartwatch is touch screen enabled only the lower part of the screen is touch key enabled. It’s used to navigate the various menus on the watch.

It also has a side button which has the same function as the touchscreen key.

  • IPS display
  • Touch screen
  • 3-inch screen
  • 240 x 240 pixels screen resolution
  • 261 PPI

Camera

No camera on this fitness tracker.

Memory

The Oukitel W2 comes with 64KB RAM and 512KB ROM.

  • RAM: 64KB
  • ROM: 512KB

Performance

Oukitel W2 runs its own operating system that’s compatible with iOS9.0 / Android4.4 and above operating systems. It’s powered by Nordic NRF52832 microchip (Nordic semiconductors) The Nordic chipset is known to have good performance and very low battery consumption.

Sports, it has several sports modes. Running, Walking, Climbing, & Riding.

Compatible OS: Android, IOS

I didn’t test the water resistance for this fitness smart band. Even though the website specified that the W2 has an IP67 Water Resistant rating.

Other features of the W2 include a Health tracker: blood oxygen, drinking water reminder, heart rate monitor, sedentary reminder, and sleep monitor. The W2 measures precisely the number of steps, calories, and distance traveled.

Blood oxygen is another amazing feature on the W2 but you must use medical equipment for reference.

The W2 is able to receive notifications from my phone. Notification type includes Facebook, Line, QQ, Skype, Twitter, WeChat, and WhatsApp you’ll have to configure notifications from the app downloaded from the app store for Android or iOS.

An App is required to connect the fitness tracker with a smartphone.  You can download the relevant app by scanning one of the QR codes on the user guide or just search for WearHealth on the Google play store or Apple app store.

The W2 comes with remote camera control and the option for continuous heart rate, which measures your heart rate every 5 minutes at the cost of reducing battery life. While a normal cycle may last through a week with moderate usage, the continuous heart rate will reduce the autonomy down to a couple of days.

The app also keeps a record of previous activities, including daily steps and sports events. No syn options with google fit or other online services, and no integration with apps like Strava. All popular messengers are supported.

Battery.

The Oukitel W2 comes with a non-removable 280mAh battery that takes about 4 hours to charge with a standby time that’s more than 15 days. My first charge on this device took me more than 2 weeks before juicing up.

  • Battery Capacity: 280mAh
  • Charging Time: About 4 hours
  • Standby time: 15 days
  • Charger Specs: 5V, 0.5 – 2A

To turn this device on you’ll have to press the touch area for more than 3 seconds to power it on and to power off this fitness tracker click the touch area to switch to the power-off interface. Long press to pop up “YES” and “NO”; then select “YES”, and it will be powered off after a long press.

What are the pros and cons of the OUKITEL W2?

To sum up, here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of the OUKITEL W2:

Pros:

  • Rugged and durable design
  • Long battery life
  • Easy-to-read screen
  • IP67 water and dust resistance
  • Health and fitness tracker
  • Remote camera control
  • Anti-lost function
  • Notifications from phone

Cons:

  • No GPS, NFC, or Wi-Fi
  • No voice commands or music control
  • Few watch faces and customization options
  • I don’t like the User Interface for the smartwatch.
  • The app doesn’t have google fit sync support.
  • If you’re looking for something to monitor your blood pressure and pulse this is not the watch for you. (You must use medical equipment for reference.)

Should You Buy The Oukitel W2?

It’s the cheapest value fitness smart band you’ll find, with all the right features at a low price.

Where can I buy the OUKITEL W2?

The OUKITEL W2 is available online from various retailers, such as Gearbest, Amazon, AliExpress, Banggood, and more. The price may vary depending on the seller, shipping location, taxes, and discounts. At the time of writing this review, the OUKITEL W2 costs around $60 on Gearbest.

How does the OUKITEL W2 compare with other smartwatches?

The OUKITEL W2 is not the only smartwatch in the market that offers similar features and functions. Here are some of the competitors that you might want to consider:

  1. Amazfit Bip: This is a popular smartwatch that has a similar design and price range as the OUKITEL W2. It has a 1.28-inch transflective color screen with a resolution of 176 x 176 pixels. It has a built-in GPS and GLONASS for accurate location tracking. It has a battery life of up to 45 days on standby mode or up to 30 days on normal use. It has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
  2. Huawei Watch GT: This is a premium smartwatch that has a sleek and elegant design. It has a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. It has a built-in GPS and TruSeen 3.0 heart rate sensor. It has a battery life of up to 14 days on normal use or up to 30 days on power saving mode. It has a 5 ATM rating for water resistance.
  3. Samsung Galaxy Watch Active: This is a stylish and compact smartwatch that has a 1.1-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. It has a built-in GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bixby voice assistant. It has a battery life of up to 2 days on normal use or up to 4 days on low usage mode. It has an IP68 rating and MIL-STD-810G certification for water, dust, and shock resistance.

As you can see, each of these smartwatches has its own strengths and weaknesses. The Amazfit Bip is the cheapest and the longest-lasting, but it lacks some features like GPS, NFC, and Wi-Fi.

The Huawei Watch GT is the most elegant and premium-looking, but it is also the most expensive and the heaviest. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is the most feature-rich and versatile, but it also has the shortest battery life and the smallest screen size.

Ultimately, the best smartwatch for you depends on your personal preferences, needs, and budget. The OUKITEL W2 is a good option if you want a rugged and reliable smartwatch that can track your health and fitness, as well as receive notifications from your phone.

It may not have all the bells and whistles of some other smartwatches, but it does offer a decent performance and a long battery life for a reasonable price.
