A 43-inch 4K UHD Asus ROG gaming monitor is the first with Display Stream CompressionAt E3 2019, AMD introduced its next-generation RX 5700 Navi GPUs with a special event dubbed “Next Horizon Gaming.” AMD then showed a GPU running DisplayPort 1.4 with Display Stream Compression (DSC). This technology enables higher 4 K refresh rates. AMD eagerly displayed an upcoming 43 “DisplayHDR 1000-certified Asus display with a native resolution of 3840×2160 and a refresh rate of 144 Hz, that would support DSC for single-cable connectivity. In fact, the Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology for DisplayPort is part of the VESA standard and was developed for this particular monitor together with Asus. It supports 4K at 240Hz (no HDR) and 4K at 120Hz (with HDR, no chroma subsampling). Chroma subsampling and HDR are supported for 4K at 98-120Hz.
