Verdict

Overall, the iPhone X is a top-performing device that offers a unique and immersive user experience. Its edge-to-edge OLED display, Face ID technology, and powerful A11 Bionic chip make it stand out among other smartphones on the market.

Its dual 12-megapixel camera system, long-lasting battery and sleek design also make it a great choice for consumers. However, the device’s high price tag may be a deterrent for some, and it is important for consumers to weigh the benefits against their budget.

iPhone X Review: A Comprehensive Look at Apple’s Flagship Device

The iPhone X is a revolutionary device from Apple that has set the bar for smartphone technology. With its edge-to-edge OLED display, Face ID technology, and powerful A11 Bionic chip, the iPhone X offers a truly immersive and personalized user experience.

The iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max replaced the iPhone X. Apple discontinued the device to focus on the newer iPhones.

Design

The design of the X is outstanding. Overall, it has a premium feel with a glass and stainless steel finish, an edge-to-edge OLED screen, Face ID, wireless charging, a slim bezel, and a front notch.

There is no bezel at the bottom, no home button, and no fingerprint sensor for touch identification. The iPhone X is ultra-slim with a 7.7mm body thickness.

When compared with the iPhone 8, the iPhone X is larger than the iPhone 8 but smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus.

The mute switch on the left side sits above the volume buttons while the right side features a button with expanded functionality to compensate for the removal of the Home button. Holding down on this button activates Siri while pressing the side button and the volume up button takes a screenshot.

iPhone X ReviewIt has a dual camera at the back, LED flash, and a front camera.

At the bottom of this device are six speakers on each side of the USB-C port.

Unlocking the iPhone X is done with a Face ID facial recognition system.

The iPhone X boasts a sleek and minimalist design that is sure to turn heads. The stainless steel and glass construction gives the device a premium feel, and the 5.8-inch OLED display takes up almost the entire front of the phone, creating an immersive visual experience. The device is also water and dust resistant, with an IP67 rating.

Display

The iPhone X has a 5.8 inches colour super AMOLED screen (16M colours) and comes with a super-sharp 1125 x 2436 pixel resolution with 458 pixels per inch and a 19.5:9 Aspect Ratio.

The iPhone X display screen features scratch-resistant glass, with oleophobic coating screen protection and also has support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, wide colour gamut, and advanced colour management techniques.

Camera

The iPhone X has three cameras, Dual Camera of 12 MP + 12 MP cameras at the back with autofocus, Quad-LED flash, and one front camera of 7 MP for taking selfies.

iPhone X ReviewSome of the features of the camera are Face detection, Smile detection, Geo-tagging, Panorama, Touch to focus, 1080p HD video recording, auto image stabilisation, Retina Flash using the display, and auto HDR.

Rear Camera: 12MP + 12MP
Front camera: 7MP

The iPhone X can capture up to 60 frames per second for 4 K video and up to 240 frames per second for 1080p slo-mo video.

Apple also added a video encoder for maximum performance in real-time image processing and native support for HEVC encoding for the same quality of video with smaller file sizes.

Face ID

Face ID is a facial recognition technology that replaces the fingerprint Touch ID sensor used in earlier phones for authentication purposes. Face ID uses a facial scan instead of a fingerprint to unlock the iPhone X; grants access to third-party apps, authenticate Apple Pay payments etc

Face ID is part of the setup process when you get an iPhone X, much like the Touch ID. You will use Apple’s tutorial instead of applying a fingerprint to the phone to generate a simple 3D face scan that’s transformed into a series of data points.

When measured side by side with Touch ID, Face ID is slower than Touch ID.

Performance

iPhone X runs iOS v11.1.1 operating system, upgradable to v12 and 2.39 GHz, Hexa Core Processor with an Apple GPU (three-core graphics). It runs on the Apple A11 chipset. The iPhone ten comes with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage without support for Memory Card.

Additional core results in better parallelism, making it possible to perform more tasks simultaneously without slowing down the user interface.

The iPhone X is IP67 water and dust resistant

For water and dust resistance, The iPhone X has an IP67 rating, which means that it will last half an hour swimming in 1.5 m of water.

Excellent Performance — the X User interface is smooth, and switching between apps is fast.

Should You Buy iPhone X?

The iPhone X is worth having even in 2024, two to three years after its launch. It’s one of Apple’s best phones ever, it has an incredibly good display, but I can’t recommend it to anyone in 2024 when there are other iPhone phones, if not better, in some respects except you’re on a budget.

The current price of the iPhone X on the market still puts it on the expensive side, but better still you can go for the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max. Apple discontinued the X to focus on the newer iPhones.

The iPhone X price in Nigeria is ₦369,000.00 while the price in Ghana is 5,000 cedi also the price in Egypt is 11,400 EGP.
